Obituary for Ellen Jane Gil

Ellen Jane (Cox) Gil, 70, of Sebastian, FL passed away Wednesday, January 11, with her family by her side.
She leaves her beloved husband of 48 years Jose Gil, her daughters Lori (Darren) Sylvia of Vero Beach and Lynn (Darryl) Jackson of Lincoln, RI, six grandchildren: Alexander, Abigail, and Jacqueline Sylvia and Savannah, Skylar, and Sean Jackson, and her beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ellen Jane was born in Chicopee, MA to the late Ileen Dunlop Cox and graduated from Chicopee High School in 1964. She had a passion for nursing and received her nursing degree from Worcester-Hahnemann School of Nursing and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Joseph’s College. Ellen was a registered nurse at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA until she retired in 2008. She loved her profession and the many wonderful nurses she worked with over the years.

Ellen came from a small family but felt very blessed to join a large, close-knit family when she married Jose Gil in 1968. She loved the family social events and became very close to Jose’s sisters. They raised their daughters in Wilbraham and retired to Ludlow, MA and Sebastian, FL. During her retirement she enjoyed Zumba, and playing Mahjong with her friends, but was most passionate about spending time with her grandchildren.
