Obituary for Evelyne Starrett

Evelyne Starrett
Evelyne F. (Faulkner) Starrett passed away at her home on August 3, 2016, after a brief illness.

Born March 24th, 1923, in White Plains, New York, Mrs. Starrett was a graduate of Good Council College in White Plains and spent her early years as a business administrator in the White Plains area. After her marriage in 1943 Evelyne became a devoted wife and mother who took great pleasure in family and doing for others. Living in Vero Beach since 1977, where she and her husband retired from New Hampshire, she was a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church and spent much of her life involved with the church community as an active participant in parish charities and in tending to the sick and needy.

Evelyne had a lifelong affinity for travel, and with her husband and family could often be found touring or cruising throughout the world. It was without doubt, however, that Evelyne’s true love was her devotion to husband and family. She assumed many roles throughout her life, from Cub Scout den mother, to supportive spouse, to mentor and confidante to her children and grandchildren, to even being 1st mate on the family boat! Hers was a life filled with honor, love, compassion and, as much love as she bestowed on others, an equal amount was returned by those who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Faulkner, her mother, Martha B Faulkner, and her beloved husband of 70 years, Edwin B Starrett. She leaves behind her children Martha Lynn Cormier, and Thomas W Starrett, two grandchildren Kimberly Pasonski and Kara Tusia , and four great grandchildren.

A mass in her memory will be held at 2:00 pm on August 22nd, 2016, at St Helen’s Catholic Church in Vero Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Catholic Relief fund or the American Cancer society.
