Obituary for Edna T. "Edie" Morrison

Edna T. "Edie" Morrison
Edna Theresa Morrison (nee Gaudon), 75, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away December 2, 2016, at home after an 18 month fight with a brain tumor (glioblastoma). She was born to the late Wilson and Bertha Gaudon on March 26, 1941 in Stephenville Crossing, Newfoundland, Canada. She was married to Patrick Morrison in 1962, where she met him while he was stationed at the local radar site while she was working as a school teacher. She resided in Westbury, NY, raising four children: Patrick Morrison (Violet), Michael Morrison, Ann Marie Lauritsen, and Kristi Bohn (Derek), before retiring to Stuart in 1998 and moving to Vero Beach in 2005. She had six grandchildren: Sean Morrison (Massapequa, NY), Aiden and McKayla Lauritsen (Bethpage, NY), and Natalie, Ryan and Andrew Bohn (Woodbury, MN), and three step-grandchildren: Christine, Hosanna, and Vivian Sebastian (Orlando, FL).

She liked to be called Edie, a nickname she picked up from a Macy’s clerk who shared the same names. She had a great laugh, a witty sense of humor, and was a loyal, generous person.

She is survived by three siblings who live in Newfoundland: Urban Gaudon (Irene), Louise White (Barry), and Kay Lidstone (Paul). She was preceded in death by two brothers: Melvin Gaudon (Judy) and Robert Gaudon, and she is survived by a very large circle of in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

She also loved spending time with her many friends. She traveled to great places and was grateful for that, as well as for all the fun times with friends she had. She went on about two cruises a year in retirement, often with family, neighbors and friends. Her favorite trips were to Ireland, England, Amsterdam, and Paris, though her trips to China and Veitnam were particularly moving.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 9, 2016 at St. John of the Cross.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the VNA & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960, a great organization that has shown great compassion to Edie and her family over the last year and half.
