Obituary for
Daniel A. Gallo
Daniel S. Gallo, 95, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away January 11, 2017 at Indian River Medical Center.
He was born September 6, 1921 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Thomas Joseph and Theresa Gallo. Mr. Gallo lived in Wyckoff, NJ before moving to Vero Beach in 1963, where he worked as a Citrus Broker.
Mr. Gallo was a combat veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, having served during WWII.
He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach. Mr. Gallo was a devout fan of the Vero Beach High School Fighting Indians football team and always enjoyed a good cigar.
He is survived by his children, Irene (Rick) Phelps of Townson, MD, Mary (Michael) Waskevich of Louisville, KY, Gregory Gallo of Vero Beach, Daniel Gallo of Tampa, LF, Mark (Margie) Gallo of Mason, OH, Richard Gallo III of Louisville, KY, and Matthew Gallo of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Daniel Gallo Jr., Richard Phelps IV, Mark Phelps, Danielle Phelps, Jack Phelps, Mark Gallo, Nicole Gallo, Jacqueline Waskevich, Stephanie Waskevich, Genevieve Gallo, Jonathan Gallo and Quentin Gallo; 15 grandchildren, Nicholas Gallo, Jacob Gallo, Jenna Gallo, Marie Gallo, Rielee Phelps, Carrolline Phelps, Grady Phelps, Luther Phelps, Hollis Phelps, Beau Phelps, Josie Gallo, Lila Featherstone, Jack Back, Hattie Back and Scarlett Gallo. He was predeceased by his sons, John and James Gallo.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 20, 2017 from 5-8pm at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home followed by an 8pm prayer service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12noon, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Helen Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Louisville, KY at a later date.
