Gilbert Thomas  Purdy Jr.
Gilbert T. Purdy, Jr of Hawley, PA and Ft. Pierce, FL, passed away at home in Ft. Pierce, on April 14th. He was born in the Bronx, December 25, 1935 to Anna and Gilbert Purdy, Sr. Gil married the love of his life, Mary Anne on June 17, 1961. After serving with the U.S. Army, he was employed by Consolidated Edison for 36 years. He lived in Glendale, NY for 27 years and was an active member in the Glendale, NY Chapter of The Knights of Columbus.

Gil and Mary Anne retired in 1993 to their cabin in the woods of Pennsylvania and spent their winters in Ft. Pierce, FL.

Gil loved to be outdoors; he especially enjoyed hunting with the Ami Rod and Gun Club, camping with his family, and fishing off the coast of Florida. Above all, he was a family man who cherished time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Anne (Molloy); his daughters, Karen and her husband Ash Ibrahim and Mary Elizabeth and her husband, Gino Morra. He is also survived by his grandchildren Daniel, Mark, Christy, Miray, and Nicolina, the lights of his heart. He was predeceased by his son Kevin in 2011 and a sister, Patricia.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 18th from 2:00-5:00 PM with a prayer service to be held at 5:00 PM at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Wednesday April 19th at Saint Anastasia Catholic Church, Ft. Pierce. Interment will take place at St. Ann Cemetery in Shohola, PA.
