Leonard Robert Ovens Sr.
On July 14th 2017 Leonard R. Ovens Sr. passed away. Leonard was a man who knew and loved the Lord. Leonard enjoyed attending church, volunteering in the community,riding his bicycle around town, and eating good food with friends and family.
Leonard was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1952 to Hazel and Jonathan Ovens. Leonard grew up as the youngest of 4 brothers. After high school Leonard served for a short time in the US Air Force. After his service in the Air Force Leonard returned home to his family who in the late 1960’s relocated to Fort Pierce, Fl. Shortly after his family relocating, Leonard fell in love with and married Maria Ribeiro. After marriage, Leonard took on the profession of being a boilermaker. Leonard and Maria eventually moved to Vero Beach where they had four children together; three sons and a daughter.
Leonard was a genuine loving and caring man. He was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He was warm and welcoming from the first time that you met him, and had a witty, fun loving, easy going personality.
Leonard is survived by his four children; Joshua, JR, Ricky, and Amanda Ovens; his 6 grandchildren; Samuel, Adalyne, Alivia, Aubrey, Benjamin, and Charlotte Ovens; and his ex-wife Maria Ovens.
